Sportal Australia Pty Ltd commenced operations in October 1999, and was originally a fully owned subsidiary of Sportal Limited in the UK.
Sportal Limited forged long-term relationships with Europe's most prestigious soccer clubs and produced euro2000.org, one of the most popular sports websites ever. Sportal Limited was purchased by Sporting Life in September 2001.
Sportal Australia launched its first site, pgatour.com.au, in January 2000. Featuring live scoring from Australasian PGA Tour events, regular updates and audio of the players it was the seventh most-visited Australian sports website within a week.
In April 2000, Sportal launched an AFL website in conjunction with Telstra and a month later established a soccer partnership with SBS Television to produce theworldgame.com.au.
