first emerged, it offered hope that for once, Egyptians would watch a
channel free from censorship. The channel lauded itself as being the
honest microphone of the revolution. For some time, this image certainly
sustained itself. The channel’s name identifies with the defining space and symbol of the revolution, Tahrir Square. The channel’s slogan is “The People Want to Liberate the Minds” The channel was also partially owned by Ibrahim Eissa, a well-known Egyptian journalist famous for his blunt criticisms of Mubarak’s regime
